The Twelve Days of Christmas

January 5th, 2012

(If you have not seen the last 11 days of my musings…please scroll back and read 12/25’s post. It will help to explain what I am doing in these posts and why.)

On the TWELFTH Day of Christmas — PISCES: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of IMAGINATION and COMPASSION: to imagine, envision and incarnate the fundamental unity of all creation in your words, songs, actions, and beliefs; to experience the depth of the mystery and beauty of your own soul, the souls of others, and the soul of the world - and relish that intimacy; to be a poet of your life - writing each day with wonder and imagination - seeing not what is, but what could be - and creating that reality with faith; to understand through empathetic surrender the sufferings and fears of others, and to seek their comfort, healing, and release; to know that all is grace, all is love, all is all in all, in the silent song of the MYSTERY of unending, unquenchable love. YOU are love.

The Twelve Days of Christmas:

(If you have not seen the last 10 days of my musings…please scroll back and read 12/25’s post. It will help to explain what I am doing in these posts and why.)

On the ELEVENTH Day of Christmas — AQUARIUS: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of INDIVIDUALITY and INTEGRITY: to search one’s deepest self and there find the most fundamental, radical TRUTH of who you are - beyond all social definitions, familial history and expectations, religious rules and beliefs, peer pressure and consensus reality — and to LIVE that TRUTH without fear, compromise, or hesitancy; to unleash the innovative, unique genius of your soul and share it with the world; to actively support, defend, and encourage the innate uniqueness, individuality, and creative genius of each and every person in your sphere of influence; to swim against the tide, turn your back on the crowd, forge the untrammeled path, envision the impossible possible; to encourage the wild woman or wild man within your soul to leave its dark cave of fear and dance its wildness in the bright light of day - no matter what.

On the TENTH Day of Christmas — CAPRICORN: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of RADICAL HOPE and FORTITUDE: in the darkest night, to have an undying hope of birth into the light; the enduring hope and strength to overcome all challenges, difficulties, obstacles to attaining the glorious summit of one’s dreams and goals; the fortitude, will, and discipline to build firm foundations under your “castles in the air” and so bring your dreams to enduring reality; to manifest excellence and unshakeable integrity in who you are and who you desire to become; to understand challenges and difficulties as vital food for your soul and drink for your spirit -  so thriving instead of merely surviving; to learn with Camus, that in the midst of winter there is within you an invincible summer; despite any and all evidence to the contrary, to believe that “springtime” and rebirth will arrive without fail and so strive with unfailing hope to break through, and break forth, into the full blossom of your strength, dignity, power, and excellence.

On the NINTH Day of Christmas — SAGITTARIUS: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of a QUESTING MIND, HEART, AND SPIRIT: that seeks to begin each day with a ravenous hunger to discover at least one new way of seeing, understanding, and believing; that seeks to find the undiscovered territory in their own hearts and in the hearts and lives of those around them - and explore with delight!; that seeks to know one new person, embrace one new idea, experience one new pleasure, risk one new adventure - at least every week of their life; that seeks to leave behind the safe harbor of the familiar, the tried and true, and venture forth into the open sea of one’s fears of the unknown and the unfathomable - risking all for the unseen, unproven shore of a life more grounded in truth and mystery than certainty and complacency; that seeks the Holy Grail of their existence - a life of purpose, power, passion and peace - with undivided devotion, rapt attention and unfailing hope.

The Twelve Days of Christmas:

(If you have not seen the last 6 days of my musings…please scroll back and read 12/25’s post. It will help to explain what I am doing in these posts and why.

This particular post - Scorpio - I struggled with writing - struggled a lot…knowing in my heart it contains some of the richest gifts of all, yet not knowing the words to convey its promise.)

On the EIGHTH Day of Christmas — SCORPIO: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of  POWER and PASSION: the courage to retrieve your power and passion - stolen from you by those who shamed you, hurt you, judged you, abandoned you - so restoring wholeness to your soul; to realize your Shadow is not the absence of light - it is the absence of love; to love one’s Shadow with devotion and patience and thereby find the treasure hidden within; to retrieve the gold that lies hidden in your Shadow through deeply, passionately loving your fragile, flawed humanity — realizing that it is in your flaws and failures that your divinity dwells; to discover the power of a life lived in harmony with your deepest purpose, and the passion of a life that embraces all that life has to offer - both the bitter and the sweet - with equal joy and wonder; to live intensely, deeply, fearlessly the grace of your essence and existence.

On the SEVENTH Day of Christmas — LIBRA: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of BEAUTY and PEACE: of a life lived in peaceful balance with nature, family, community, world and your own inner self; of creating beauty through gifts of art, music, poetry, story that renew, refresh, heal and transform; of seeking out and becoming conscious of the unique musical melody embedded in the very fiber of your being and in singing it out loud - discovering that it unites in perfect harmony with the melodies of all others, forming one great cosmic chorale of beauty; of acting from the belief that each and every soul we encounter is the art of the divine made flesh and breath - a hidden masterpiece waiting to be unveiled through our unconditional respect and love.

On the FIFTH Day of Christmas — LEO: I ask for, and give to others, the gift of TRUST and its child JOY: to trust the universe, ourselves, and others, enough to shout out our glorious “YES” to the world; to shout that “YES” in our own, creative, unique style without reservation or fear; to trust life enough to find joy in the simplest of things and the most passionate urges of our soul; to find irrepressible joy by trustingly creating from your heart’s  wellspring of ecstasy and sorrow, pleasure and pain, foolishness and fears; to increase the light of the cosmos by trusting enough in yourself to unveil the brilliant light burning eternally within you - even when you doubt its existence or strength; to trust so deeply in your divine nature that the words, “Life I love you, I am here, today, now” sing from your soul with every breath.
